We don’t know what state you received the ticket in or what the “traffic ticket” is that you are talking about. Was it criminal or civil? You don’t provide enough information to answer this question. A great example of someone who answered this without knowing what you were talking about was the individual who told you that he gets out of tickets by just showing up about half the time. That advice would be devastating if you received a criminal traffic ticket.
I will answer your question for a hypothetical civil speeding ticket of 15+ over the limit in the state of Arizona. The burden of proof in AZ is such that the test is of the likelihood that you were engaging in the complaint cited. It is the officer’s job to prove that it is more likely than not that you were speeding. It is your job to cast enough doubt on the likelihood that the judge will determine that it is not more likely than not that you were speeding.
In any traffic situation the judge will do more for you with a lawyer then without. If you got points then def get a lawyer to get the points off. If there were no points don’t waste your time and just pay it. Nobody will do anything for you on a ticket without points. A llawyer will charge you anyway though!
Isn’t that a little bit extreme since you have already been told you don’t have to appear in court; to send $425.00? It will cost you more than the price of the ticket just for the attorney and you will still end up paying the same amount for the ticket.
Since you were driving 25 mph over the speed limit, you will most likely get points against your driving record, with or without a lawyer.
That depends entirely on the charge against you, your record, and overall what you stand to lose. None of which you provided.
I fight all my own tickets, and beat more than half of them simply because the cop doesnt show up in court. Seriously.
why? you made the error and got the ticket, so own up and pay the fine.
Without knowing what the heck you’re talking about, no one can give you advice.
