Having A New York Traffic Violation Lawyer Appear On Your Behalf In Court?

White Plains is where the traffic violation occurred, but it’s a far distance to drive. A friend mentioned that she hired a New York traffic violation lawyer and she didn’t have to appear in court. Does anyone have any experience with this?

it depends on how well the attorney is affiliated with the court and how many times a week him and the judge play golf together and or the prosecuting attorney. It also depends on how much you are willing to spend………………..
Depending on the nature of the charge, in most cases you could hire a local lawyer to appear, to waive your appearance and enter a plea. If the plea is not guilty, then you will have to appear later, at trial, so the cop can point and say “that is the driver.” There are exceptions to the general rule that allows for a waiver of appearance, but for that consult the local lawyer and find out if it will work.
Whether it is a good idea is another question. If you wanted to say something before being sentenced for the traffic crime, the lawyer cannot present your testimony if you are not present.
